As a Nigerian citizen do I need a lawyer Or what are the significance of having a lawyers?
The work of a lawyer, on the contrary to the belief of many, is more than going to Court. many people do not want to have any business with the Court Room, so as a result they become born again and believe in God praying and fasting everyday that situation that will take them to Court will never come their way. To this end, needing or wanting a lawyer since they are praying against going to Court, will be of no use to them. But the truth is, apart from litigation, an individual needs a lawyer in so many other aspect of his life. take for example, a person who wants to buy property or maintains property will need the service of a lawyer exclusively for the preparation of some legal documents and some agreements. Also someone who wants to go into contractual relationship, especially one involving large amount of money may need a lawyer for legal advice and guidance. Also a lawyer is needed when someone wants to incorporate a company. a lawyer is needed in an organization to function in the legal department and takes care of all legal relationships that exist between the incorporation and its employees, and the incorporation in relation to external bodies. And of course, a lawyer will be needed to frank (sign) some documents in relation to Real Estate, incorporation, stamping etc.
one can see from the above explanation that far beyond litigation, a lawyer is very important in the life of every individual and corporation both in Nigeria and at the international scene at large.
